unfortunately the main problem has been the very poor coordination of the event. Breed judgements did not start till 1 PM and the Best in Show of Saturday finished at 11 PM. It is a shame to present themselves to the Dog World with such performance. Even on Sunday the Best in Show did not finish till 10 PM. Exhibitors drive the longest miles, spend a big deal of money and are away from their families for two days just because they want to nourish the Dog Show passion, and I wonder if, due to such events, this is just pure craziness on our behalf. It is not acceptable for such things to occur, with the kind of money paid on entry fees we sure deserve better. Our success in Eboli has been teinted by these unfortunate events and I felt ashamed for some of my friend exhibitors that came all the way from overseas to take part to the show. I really think that it's about time that Italy starts following the same standards of the other European Countries where rules need to be followed, and those Kennel Clubs that are not compliant get fined with high money sums and get excluded from the Show circuit for several years. In several Countries exhibitors are advised of the time their breed judgement start prior to getting to the show, while in Italy at times you do not even know if there will be enough time to undergo a decent judging. Judges were grumpy and arrogant, totally unrespectful of people that might have droven 600 miles and had no sleep in two days. This is what happened in Eboli and what often happens in Italy, and I truly believe it's about time for things to change. All of the above obscured the wins of Touch who won the three legs, including the Specialty one. These are Touch's first shows and she behaved quiet well compared to the more mature and ring trained bitches over there. We are proud for our work and I'd like to thank Mimmo Cecco, Touch's co-owner and our frien Paolo Accetta for all his help and cooperation at the Eboli's week-end. |
